Highlights on Non-Operating Room Anesthesia
(NORA)

Saturday January 19, 2019
LAU Byblos Campus

Welcome Message

Dear colleagues,

It is a pleasure to welcome you to our first LAU anesthesiology meeting, titled “Highlights on Non-Operating Room Anesthesia (NORA)”.

With the rapid development of novel interventional techniques in cardiology, radiology, gastroenterology, pulmonary medicine and other areas, NORA has come to form a major percentage of total anesthesia cases. This change presents challenges for the anesthesiologist on several fronts in terms of the logistics of working in an unfamiliar area, the frequency of patient comorbidity and familiarity with new procedures.

The objective of this multidisciplinary meeting is to review these novel procedures in NORA and to discuss their anesthetic implications on patients’ safety and quality of care. Interventionists from various specialties will inform the audience about the most recent procedures in their respective specialties. Furthermore, anesthesiologists will discuss the anesthetic techniques as well as the clinical challenges, including proper patient selection, appropriate monitoring, and an understanding of the emerging procedures and communication with non-anesthesia providers.

The meeting will conclude with a workshop on simulation-based education as applied to NORA, at the LAU-Clinical Simulation Center.

Our team looks forward to your participation.
