Objectives
- Recognize Clinical Presentations: Identify the common signs, symptoms, and classifications (upper vs. lower) of gastrointestinal bleeding in various patient populations.
- Diagnostic Approaches: Evaluate and apply evidence-based diagnostic strategies, including laboratory tests, endoscopic modalities, and imaging techniques, to accurately determine the source and severity of gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Management and Treatment: Develop a comprehensive understanding of current management guidelines, including pharmacological therapies, endoscopic interventions, and surgical options for acute and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Risk Stratification and Prevention: Utilize risk assessment tools to stratify patients by bleeding severity and implement strategies to prevent recurrent bleeding episodes, with a focus on optimizing patient outcomes.
