Interventions in Hybrid OR, Where Complexity Meets Safety

Welcome Message

Ever since the first percutaneous mitral commissurotomy by trans-septal technique was performed in Lebanon in 1993 in our medical center the treatment of valvular heart disease has undergone drastic changes.

New innovative approaches to patient care in cardiovascular interventions have made our daily life in the catheterization lab a thrilling journey full of challenges and achievements.

In 1993, since the very beginning of cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology in this medical center the close collaboration between cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and cardiac anesthetists was the model we followed and believed in; two decades later the notion of a HEART TEAM was invented and it’s now the way to practice modern cardiovascular medicine.

Our expertise is growing, and so should our collaboration. During the symposium that is organized by the Divisions of Cardiology and Vascular Surgery at the LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine on March 23, 2024, “Interventions in Hybrid OR, Where Complexity Meets Safety” we’ll be discussing these moving frontiers in the management of valvular heart disease, in complex left main treatment as well as the new era of ablation therapy. Our vascular colleagues will be focusing on these advances in the endovascular management of complex thoracoabdominal aortic disease & hybrid repair for aortoiliac occlusion. They will highlight the importance of the Hybrid OR in performing complex aortic and endovascular interventions in a hybrid setting where combining or shifting to open surgery is done to the highest standards of efficiency and safety.

This one-day symposium will be, as designed by the organizers, a national gathering of Lebanese experts in the field, and also experts and clinicians to share expertise, improve collaboration and stimulate exchanges and interaction. It is proudly endorsed by the Lebanese Society of Cardiology and the Lebanese Society of Vascular Surgery.

The umbrella of the scientific societies and the involvement of our partners in the industry will no doubt make this symposium highly scientific, well-balanced and at the cutting edge of technology. We would like to thank you for your participation in helping us take interventional cardiology and endovascular therapeutics a step further.
