Objectives
Acute Kidney Injury
- Early Recognition and Classification: Understand the diagnostic criteria and classification of AKI, including the use of KDIGO guidelines to identify and stage the condition.
- Etiology and Risk Factors: Differentiate between prerenal, intrinsic, and postrenal causes of AKI, and identify common risk factors in diverse patient populations.
- Diagnostic and Monitoring Tools: Apply evidence-based approaches to the use of biomarkers, imaging, and other diagnostic modalities for early detection and monitoring of AKI progression.
- Management and Prevention Strategies: Develop comprehensive treatment plans for AKI, including fluid resuscitation, medication management, and prevention of complications such as chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Renal Stones Management
- Pathophysiology and Risk Factors: Understand the pathophysiology of renal stone formation and identify key risk factors, including dietary and metabolic contributors.
- Diagnostic Approaches: Evaluate imaging modalities (e.g., CT, ultrasound) and laboratory tests for accurate diagnosis and characterization of renal stones.
- Medical and Surgical Management: Develop individualized management plans, including the use of medical expulsive therapy, dietary modifications, and indications for surgical interventions such as lithotripsy or ureteroscopy.
- Prevention and Long-term Care: Implement evidence-based prevention strategies to reduce the recurrence of renal stones, with a focus on patient education and metabolic evaluation.
