Objectives
Etiology and Risk Stratification: Identify common pathogens causing CAP and assess patient-specific risk factors and severity using tools such as CURB-65 or the Pneumonia Severity Index (PSI).
Diagnosis and Investigations: Develop a systematic approach to diagnosing CAP, including clinical evaluation, imaging studies (e.g., chest X-ray), and microbiological testing when appropriate.
Evidence-Based Treatment: Formulate individualized treatment plans based on disease severity, patient comorbidities, and local antimicrobial resistance patterns, emphasizing appropriate antibiotic selection and duration.
Prevention and Follow-Up Care: Implement preventive strategies such as vaccination and smoking cessation and develop follow-up plans to monitor treatment response and manage complications.
