Dr. Toufic Chaaban graduated from the Lebanese University School of Medicine in 2012. He then joined the American University of Beirut where he completed a residency in Internal Medicine (2012-2015) , followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (2015-2018). After his graduation, Dr Chaaban joined the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, U.S.A., where he completed a two-year fellowship program in Neurocritical Care. Before joining the LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine and LAU Medical Center - Rizk Hospital, Dr. Chaaban worked with Doctors Without Borders as an intensivist in a hospital project concerned with COVID-19. 
 
Dr. Chaaban will be the first practicing neurointensivist in Lebanon. He maintains active membership in several professional societies and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. Moreover he has garnered a number of awards including recognition as “Intern of the Year”and “Fellow of the Year” at the American University of Beirut. He has authored many peer-reviewed publications appearing in international journals. 
 
In addition to having clinical expertise in pulmonary diseases, general critical care and neurocritical care, Dr. Chaaban has a special interest in the education of medical students, residents and fellows.
