Fixed Focus Medium-Low Power Tube

Ref. E9

This is an oil-immersed line focus tube with a fairly low target angle, probably removed from a portable X-ray machine.

It has a round tungsten target embedded in a massive copper anode. Its focus size is estimated to be about a 4 mm square (as seen from the patient’s side).

Of unknown make, the tube dates back probably to the mid-years of the second half of the 20th century.

Precise specifications are unknown but estimated at a maximum of 100 kV and 30 mA.

Of particular interest is the anterior round bulge of the glass wall facing the target. This bulge is probably made of ordinary glass more permeable to X-rays,while the rest of the tube is probably made of lead glass.
