Dr. Ralf Krage
Dr. Ralf Krage is an associate professor of Anesthesia at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) and an Anesthesiology consultant at Mediclinic in Dubai, UAE. He is also the director of the Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtour Medical Simulation Center in Dubai.
From 2007 until 2019, he was an Anesthesiology consultant and residency program director at the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Between 2019 and 2021, he served as the head of the Departments of Anesthesia, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine in Neuburg, Germany.
His special interests focus on advancing medical education through simulation-based learning, Human Factor issues and airway management training. He has presented at numerous international conferences on Human Factors, patient safety, simulation-based learning and airway management. Since the early 2000s he has been promoting simulation-based learning while serving as director of two major simulation centers in Germany and the Netherlands.
He served as president of SESAM (Society for Simulation in Europe) between 2013 and 2015, and as an executive committee member of the same society from 2011 till 2017. He was also the vice president of the Dutch Society for Simulation in Healthcare from 2011 to 2016. In addition, Dr. Krage sat on the board of the Global Network for Simulation in Healthcare from 2015 to 2019, then rejoined the board in 2024.
Dr. Krage founded the scientific journal Advances in Simulation and serves on its international advisory board. He was an international partner and board member of EuSim Group from 2017 to 2020.
On an academic level, Dr. Krage has, since 2007, taught and directed academic programs, and is an examiner for the European Diploma of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care (EDAIC) of the European Anesthesia Society (ESAIC).
