“Rorix” Tube

Ref. K7

This typical rotating anode tube dates probably back to the seventies of last century. It was made in the German Democratic Republic (Eastern Germany) by “Rorix”. It was offered to the collection in the early eighties in a non-functional condition, due to high tension sparking (arcing) between the active internal elements and the glass envelope, around the X-ray port (on the underside of the upper picture).

The sites where the spark hit the glass show what looks like a network of minute communicating fractures, sometimes accompanied by imperceptible piercings through which the tube loses its vacuum.

Sparking (arcing) is a relatively frequent cause of failure of X-ray tubes. See also the “Shimadsu Circlex Tube”.

No technical specifications are available. “Rorix” is no more present in the X-ray market.
