Residency and Fellowship Programs
LAU GME offers 17 residency programs including both categorical and preliminary tracks, and seven fellowship programs.

*Categorical track leads to certification in the chosen specialty where the length of training depends on the specialty.
*Preliminary track and rotating year are a one-year track that doesn’t lead to certification in the specialty.

Application Process
For residency and fellowship programs beginning in AY 2026-2027, the application period is November 20, 2025 through January 31, 2026.
GME applications (residency and fellowship) are posted on the MyEvaluations platform. To access the platform in order to submit an application, interested candidates should first send an email to the GME Admissions Office (gmeadmissions@lau.edu.lb) in which they should include:
- A request for credentials to access the platform
- Date of birth (dd/mm/yy)
- Fathers’ name.
- Previous LAU ID if any
Once credentials issued, candidates will receive an email from the platform within 4-5 working days at which time they can start uploading the application and all the needed information.
The GME office will be CLOSED from December 24, 2025 - January 6, 2026 (inclusive) for the Christmas and New Year’s holiday. We apologize for not being able to cater to your needs and requests during this period.
Eligibility, Requirements & Qualifying Examinations
Eligibility
All applicants to the GME programs should hold a Medical Diploma granted by an institution that is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools and acknowledged by the Lebanese Ministry of Higher Education.
Required Documents
- GME online application posted on the MyEvaluations platform. To access the online platform, please email the GME Admissions office at gmeadmissions@lau.edu.lb to obtain the credentials required for access.
- Photocopy of the applicant’s valid identity card or passport.
- One recent passport-size color photographs of the applicant.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) prepared within three months of the application.
- Personal statement describing the applicant’s interest in the chosen specialty. A separate personal statement should be issued for each specialty applied. Please make the file name same as the specialty name, prior to uploading it on the platform.
- Certified copy of the medical degree (MD) if not applicable, a Dean’s Letter from the medical school in which the applicant is/was enrolled.
- Certified copy of the medical school transcript of record.
- A minimum of three letters of recommendation (LoR) provided by faculty members who had academic contact with the applicant. The LoR should include information about the applicant’s knowledge, clinical skills, professionalism, inter-professional and communication skills.
All submitted documents should be in English or a certified English translation of the original non-English document.
When uploading the above documents on the MyEvaluations platform, you must rename the file you upload with the following format: “First Name, Family Name- name of the required document”
Note: The Internal Medicine Residency Program will not consider applications from candidates who have not completed their internship year by May 2026.
The GME application fee:
- To apply for only one choice: 100 USD
- For every additional choice (total of three): 25 USD - Note: Lower chance of interviews might be granted to third choice applicants depending on program’s needs.
- The fees should be paid either through:
- bank transfer (including the total amount and the commission of the bank). For further questions please reach out to the LAU business office at extension: 2294.
- DONOT FORGET to mention, when making the money transfer, to include on the invoice your name/GME applicant/ ID number. Eg. Jane Doe/GME Applicant/2024XXX
OR
- In person at the Main Cashier, ground floor, LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital; Please take a copy of the first page of your application (to show the number of choices) and provide your full name and LAU I.D. number received via email from the GME office.
- Upon payment of application fees, a soft copy of the completed, signed, stamped receipt should be uploaded on the platform.
Qualifying Examinations
All applicants must submit score reports of the following:
- USMLE Step 1 Basic Science, or its equivalent, the International Foundations of Medicine Clinical Basic Science Examination (IFOM BSE) or NBME CBSE.
- USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge, or its equivalent, the International Foundations of Medicine Clinical Science Examination (IFOM CSE) or NBME CCSE.
Note:
- The IFOM CSE/USMLE Step 2 scores will be considered as part of the applicant’s “Academic Performance”. The scores’ relative weight in the evaluation of the applicant may vary among specialty programs.
- Validity of IFOM exams is 4 years
Required Proof of Proficiency in English
For graduates of non-American medical schools, score report of performance on one of the following English Language Proficiency examinations is requested.
Qualifying examinations and minimum qualifying scores include any of the following:

Applicants whose scores on the English tests fall below the scores mentioned above will not be accepted.
Candidates interested in taking the EEE should check the website https://www.lau.edu.lb/apply/exams/ or contact the testing center for the available EEE dates. The registration for the EEE is online.
Within 5-15 working days from the time you submit your online GME application on the My Evaluation platform along with the receipt of the application fee, you will receive an email from the admission office with credentials to LAU portal to register for the EEE.
NOTE: Those who apply for residency or fellowship positions beyond mid-December 2025 should sit for other English tests accepted by LAU rather than the LAU EEE.
Fellowship Application Requirements
Fellowship application requirements are identical to the residency application requirements delineated above, with the IFOM 1/2 or NBME steps being optional. Moreover, fellowship applicants need to have a structured LOR from their program directors. Details of the letter are included on the platform.
